The New York of Strba's earliest «city video» is a fairytale city of sweet-shop colours, pastel shades and dark brown, almost black, thickened blueberry contrasts. The skyscrapers on the banks of the Hudson and East River are an utterly innocent huddle of variegated forms, hues and facade structures. The scale is difficult to judge - sometimes they look like toys. The city seems highly aesthetic, and anyone unaware of its actual existence in reality would never believe it possible to build such a thing.
Here, New York seems at once impenetrable and fragile, aloof and seductive, gigantic and toy-like.
