Streetparade 1 is a film - albeit a highly artistic one - about Zurich's techno street parade. (...) In Zurich, the dancers are bound together in an undulating, fluid, biomorphic mass of jostling, crowded humanity. These images are more reminiscent of a scientific phenomenon than a modern recreational activity. With her approach Strba achieves a formidable sense of detachment from actual events as though regarding them from a vantage point beyond the constraints of time. (...) Underpinned by the sound track, the Zurich street parade becomes archaic and even menacing at times.
