NYIMA
Strba Annelies - NYIMA 2001 (30'' Preview)
The mystical video NYIMA is underpinned by the entrancing vajra songs of the eleventh century Tibetan yogi Milarepa. The film is dedicated entirely to nature - starting with an archaic English landscape (Wuthering Heights again), with mosses and strange stones in which tiny pools have formed. It seems to be a landscape, an earth, entirely void of people. With trees whose leaves dissolve into spectral colours in the sunlight and are ultimately «devoured» by white (in a gentle abstraction that strangely recalls Cézannes watercolours), with trees that seem like signs of nature forging a link between heaven and earth, with trees that fade into blurred green forms, and, finally, with trees shrouded in mist that recall the filigree sketchiness of Camille Corot's paintings of branches.
