In 1999 Una Szeemann went to Berlin and set up with Micky Schubert the film company ’pinkproduction’ which worked autonomously: the short movies alienated to daily soap operas were self-written, -directed, -acted and -edited. Following this working principle Szeemann now focuses on her own artworks in which again music, film and art collide. Fascinated by the glamour which floats around these fields and their protagonists, Szeemann deliberately uses the aesthetics of Hollywood productions, music clips or fashion magazines in her videos, films, photos and “collages”. The world of stardom functions as the setting for the cluster of crossings and connections of original material and fiction.
